Physical Activities

Physical education at Greasby Junior School goes beyond sport—it builds resilience, teamwork and self-belief. Our dynamic PE curriculum allows pupils to thrive across a broad range of disciplines, including gymnastics, athletics, dance, swimming and outdoor adventure.

We focus on both core skills and wider learning. Children improve physical technique while also learning to reflect, collaborate and lead. Our structured progression ensures each pupil builds the confidence and competence to enjoy lifelong physical activity.

Swimming, adventurous activities and a wide range of enrichment ensure every child has the opportunity to shine.

We aim to provide the children with two hours of physical activity each week. Through PE lessons, friendly but competitive Inter-House competitions and a wide range of extra-curricular activities, we foster an enthusiasm for sport.

The school is proud of the wide range of opportunities it provides the children outside the curriculum.

Activities include:
Football, Rugby, Netball, Gymnastics, Dance, Tennis, Chess, Table Tennis, Cross Country Running, Athletics, Cricket, Basketball, Judo, Art, Drama, Choir, Recorders, Orchestra, Student Council, Gardening, Golf, Yoga, a three-day residential visit on the Wirral for pupils in Year 4 and a three-day residential visit to North Wales for Year 6 pupils.

All children have the opportunity to take part in these activities, regardless of gender or ability. Our main aim is to provide the children with the opportunity to develop new skills whilst having fun with their peers. Many of them go on to successfully represent the school, evidence of which is our bulging trophy cabinet in the entrance hall!
