Welcome to Year 6 at Greasby Junior School

Year 6 is a special and memorable year—one that brings both challenge and celebration as pupils prepare for the transition to secondary school. It’s a time when children truly shine, stepping up as leaders and role models across the school community.

Academically, pupils are supported to achieve their best through a rich and ambitious curriculum, culminating in the end-of-Key Stage 2 SATs. Alongside this, they enjoy a wide range of enrichment opportunities that help them grow in confidence, independence and resilience.

A highlight of the year is our residential trip, where children take part in outdoor challenges, strengthen friendships and build lifelong memories. Later in the summer term, pupils take to the stage in our much-loved end-of-year production—a joyful celebration of their time at Greasby Junior School that showcases their creativity, talent and teamwork.

Year 6 also offers increased opportunities for responsibility. Many pupils are chosen to serve as House Captains, Values Ambassadors, or to support the school in other leadership roles. These responsibilities help to develop confidence, teamwork, and a sense of pride in giving back to the school community.

We place a strong emphasis on preparing children for the next stage of their journey. Our carefully planned transition programme ensures that pupils leave Greasby Junior School feeling confident, well-prepared and ready to make a strong start in secondary school—with their best foot forward.

It’s a year filled with challenge, celebration and personal growth—and we are always proud to see our Year 6 pupils leave ready to embrace all that lies ahead.
