Welcome to Year 5 at Greasby Junior School

Year 5 is an exciting and inspiring year, where children begin to look outward—exploring the wider world and thinking about their future aspirations. With increasing maturity and independence, pupils take on greater challenges in their learning and begin to see how their education links to real-world opportunities.

 

A key focus in Year 5 is careers and aspirations, encouraging children to dream big, recognise their strengths and explore the many paths open to them. Through themed lessons, visitors and enrichment opportunities, we aim to broaden horizons and help children see how their interests and talents can shape who they might become.

 

Our curriculum continues to build on prior learning with greater depth and challenge, providing plenty of chances to apply knowledge across subjects. Whether solving complex maths problems, exploring science through practical enquiry, or bringing history and geography to life, Year 5 offers a rich, varied learning experience.

 

Children also take on more leadership roles in school, acting as role models for younger pupils and demonstrating our core values in action. It’s a year of growing confidence, self-belief and ambition—and we are proud to support every pupil as they take these important steps on their journey.
