NEW GJS History Intent document 2.pdf |
History at Greasby Junior School is an exciting journey through time that sparks curiosity and deepens understanding. Our curriculum is designed to help children make sense of the past and its influence on the present—from ancient civilisations to the local impact of World War II.
We empower pupils to think like historians: to question, analyse, and interpret the past through rich enquiry-led learning. Each unit balances substantive knowledge with disciplinary thinking, encouraging children to understand both what happened and how we know about it.
By weaving local history into the curriculum—such as Viking Wirral and Birkenhead’s wartime experiences—we help pupils connect personally to the past and leave with the tools to become critical, informed citizens.
